The Lexus UX is ready to take on the months ahead. Lexus has made significant enhancements to its popular hybrid compact SUV offering. The 2023 range is here and it brings with it many new features. Some novelties that will be key to boost sales and allow the current model to face the rest of its commercial life that lies ahead before undergoing a complete renovation.
But what improvements has the UX range undergone? Let’s go into detail and take a broad look at the changes targeting both tech gear and customization options. In addition, a new version called F Design has been added in which all these changes are reflected.
Lexus UX 250h F Design, sportiness and distinction
The F Design finish is the new addition to the UX range. It is based on the F Sport finish and stands out for sporting a two-tone exterior with a black roof and a grill in the shape of a double arrowhead. The grille has an L-shaped mesh motif and is finished in black with a chrome surround. The same pattern makes an appearance on the bezels of the fog lights and on the cornering lights on the front bumper.
At the rear of the new UX F Design we will find a bumper also in a specific F Sport design, with a black roof spoiler and moldings around the light groups. Another element to highlight are the 18-inch F Design alloy wheels with a dark metallic finish. By the way, the longitudinal roof bars are painted in black.
Leaving aside the exterior, if we go inside we will quickly find ourselves enveloped by a warm and comfortable environment. The F Design version comes standard with Tahara leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control and rear view camera.
Lexus UX 250h F Sport 2023, the sport version is updated
Regarding the trim level F Sport there are also news. The renewed specification incorporates the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system and front and rear Performance Dampers as standard. The suspension has been tuned to directly increase damping force when conditions require it.
Steering feel has also been improved thanks to a new rigid joint between the top of the gearbox mount and the suspension. Furthermore, in line with this additional stiffness, the damping force of the shock absorbers has been adapted to achieve optimal performance.
The new infotainment systems of the Lexus UX 250h
Lexus has taken advantage of the renewal of the range to introduce new infotainment systems. Some Lexus Link multimedia systems that, according to the company itself, offer a more agile, intuitive operation and greater functionality.
Depending on the trim level, the new UX 2023 features an 8-inch touchscreen or a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, respectively. Some touch screens that replace the previous panel control. In addition, they have been moved slightly forward in the instrument panel, which allows the driver to handle them more comfortably.
The “always connected” online navigation system is part of the standard equipment and allows access to a multitude of online digital services, such as traffic and road information in real time. Smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is also offered as standard. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a new voice recognition system. Includes the option to use the “Hey Lexus” voice assistant.
In line with the technological improvements applied, we must highlight the Lexus Safety System +2 of the UX, which offers better performance of the pre-collision system, by equipping the front cross-traffic alert and the advanced emergency steering assistant. Adaptive Cruise Control has a cornering speed reduction function, which automatically adjusts the vehicle speed based on the radius of the curve.
More customization for the Lexus UX 250h
A new exterior paint has been incorporated. It’s the Sonic Iridium color. The new range also offers a superior selection of two-tone finishes, with six colors available in combination with a contrasting black roof on F Design and F Sport models.
Leaving the exterior aside, inside the cabin a new Hazelnut color is also offered for all cloth and leather upholstery options. The F Sport (perforated) leather upholstery has a modern look with new Kagome stitching. Tahara leather upholstery also debuts a Sashiko pleat effect.
Lexus has gone a step further and has chosen to implement measures that allow the rigidity of the body to be further increased. That is why additional welding points have been applied. Stiffer steel reinforcement has also been incorporated into the rear doors.
